Born in Semarang in 1970, Darma chose to be a painter early on in his life. Almost all of his skills were developed from experiencing painting as a fun and challenging activity. Mostly self-taught, he later went on to receive structured learning from a few masters around Semarang.
Figurative painting, landscapes, floral and fauna realist paintings were his choices until he began specialising in a unique style called palette flower painting. He is most happy with his wild flower paintings when done in a spontaneous manner. His passion for both beauty and freedom is evident in all of his paintings.
