Calligraphy is the extension of Hong Zhu An’s art of expression; he conveys power, thoughts and emotion behind flowing and sharp strokes. Here, his strokes appear languid and unhurried, a reflection of the tranquil state of mind as he enters a new season in his spiritual and artistic journey. The strokes thicken and fade into the pale background, as though his mind is taking a calm respite to wonder at his work. Hong Zhu An's works are imbued with his spirits and emotions, and in the coming of a new season in his life, his works reveal a calmer and a serene outlook on life.
He merges Eastern tradition and Western techniques in his paintings, often putting together Chinese characters that have no specific meaning.
