Born in China in 1972, Wang Zi graduated from the An Yang
Normal College Fine Art Department and pursued further studies in the Center of
Academic Fine Art. With a series focusing on the juxtaposition of various
significant pop culture icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Chairman Mao, and the
artist himself being portrayed alongside popular actresses, he attempts to bring
forth the realistic aspects of lives behind camera and film, and the power
of realistic art that can bring together fantastical contexts as if they were
actual happenings. His art exemplifies contrasts such as Capitalism vs Communism,
West vs East, Liberal vs Conservative, Sensual vs Virtuous and so on.
