CSG - 136 ( JZ ) - Dedy Sufriadi utilises the unusual material of silicone on canvas, that creates a striking and fascinating texture. The work is rendered completely in white, conveying notions of purity, that link to the beginning of life when one is totally innocent and pure. Despite using the same material throughout, it is Dedy’s skilful placement and composition that imbues the work with life, creating variations of movement and intensity in different parts of the canvas, most notably with the climax appearing to be in the center of the work. Dedy’s style surprises and destabilizes, creating a strong visual impact through its dazzling blend of emotion and technique.
His works contain a sense of spirituality and he tries to convey the essence of a subject in his paintings.
