江漢曾為客,相逢每醉還。浮雲一別後,流水十年間。
歡笑情如舊,蕭疏鬢已斑。何因北歸去?淮上對秋山。
"On the Huai River, unexpectedly, we meet again,
Both far from home, with joyful hearts we stand.
The setting sun lights the tranquil river scene,
Together we share old memories and dreams."
This poem conveys the joy of an unexpected reunion with an old friend while far from home. Wei Yingwu paints a scene of shared nostalgia, as the familiar presence of a friend brings warmth and peace amidst the beauty of the river at sunset.
He pioneered with a breakthrough style in 2005, called ‘hutuzi’ or muddled calligraphy - a melding of painting and calligraphy.
