Singaporean artist and living legend Lim Tze Peng skillfully utilises complementary colours to create a spirited work. The vibrancy of the thick red brushstrokes contrasts the tranquility of the green background, bringing a sense of energy to the work. The bold black brushstrokes stand out from the cool toned green which recedes, thus giving the characters prominence in the work. Despite his calligraphy works being created in the later stages of his career, Lim brings a sense of vitality and dynamism to the traditional art of calligraphy, creating a spectacular painting.

He pioneered with a breakthrough style in 2005, called ‘hutuzi’ or muddled calligraphy - a melding of painting and calligraphy.
